Twelve aspiring aviation engineers now have the opportunity to realize their dreams through a fully funded cadet program offered by British Airways (BA), marking the first instance of an international airline providing such funding in the United States.
British Airways announced that it has launched the application process for its innovative Engineering Cadet Scheme, in collaboration with the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) located in New York, aimed at cultivating a new generation of aviation engineers in the United States.
The initiative, marking a pioneering effort for an international airline in the United States, commenced with the successful recruitment of six new cadets in Chicago last month. Currently, recruitment is underway in New York, and the program is accessible to all students from AIM campuses. It provides an additional six aspiring American aircraft technicians with tuition sponsorship and a direct route to a career with British Airways upon completion.
Throughout their training, the cadets will observe and learn from a selection of the 153 highly proficient engineers working for the airline throughout the United States. Upon achieving full qualification, the latest recruits will be responsible for servicing and maintaining the various British Airways aircraft that arrive daily at New York’s JFK and Newark Airport, in addition to offering support to British Airways’ partner airlines.
