OACM President Kristijan Curavić, who resides in neighboring Croatia, attended the meeting for the Alliance

OACM’s mission is to create plastic-free, SAFE marine areas beneath and above the surface for human and marine life. The organization operates on all continents and has been seen as a key global leader in coastal protection. It also emphasizes that creating and maintaining a safe environment for tourists is essential for the growth of the largest industry in the world: travel and tourism.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has recently been working with the United States through USAID to strengthen its striving travel and tourism industry.

Last week’s announcement highlighted the preservation of water for BiH surfaces in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of OACM.

OACM works with countries and companies to implement the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) regarding reducing the share of plastic in water.

During the meeting, Nedžad Alić, a member of the OACM board, expressed his satisfaction that Bosnia and Herzegovina recognizes the importance of systematic cleaning and maintenance of its rich water resources and emphasized that the mentioned activity represents a significant step for the entire region.

OACM President Kristijan Curavić pointed out that OACM’s innovative environmental management system will help corporations reduce costs, strengthen sustainability, and place products in key markets such as the EU, the Middle East, and the USA. According to him, the developed activity plan for 2025 foresees the beginning of the cleaning and later certification of water surfaces in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The signed Memorandum on Cooperation between VTK BiH and OACM provides the basis for coordinating this project. Chamber of Commerce Vice President Ahmet Egrlić supported implementing this initiative in Bosnia Herzegovina.

OACM is an affiliated member of the World Tourism Network.
