Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport has started the holiday season with a month-long donation drive to support Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank. Thousands of families will be supported with essential aid this holiday season.

Food bank usage has increased in Toronto. It has increased by 51 percent over last year, hitting 2.53 million visits. As of today, 1 in 10 Toronto resident depends on food banks. In comparison, last year it was 1 in 20. “Daily Bread Food Bank is seeing a surge in food insecurity across Toronto.”. This campaign will bring much-needed relief to families in need,” says RJ Steenstra, President and CEO of PortsToronto. Billy Bishop Airport is helping raise awareness and support, making it easy for passengers, staff, and community members to donate through kiosks at the airport or online. Together, we can make a difference this holiday season.

“YTZ is committed to being part of our community,” said Neil Pakey, President and CEO of Nieuport Aviation. “During a season when food bank demand is especially high, we hope everyone passing through will join us in supporting this important cause.”

With 1 in 10 of our Toronto neighbors struggling to afford food, we’re extremely thankful to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport for leading the charge on this campaign. The funds raised will directly support families who need emergency food support this season,” said Neil Hetherington, CEO of Daily Bread Food Bank.

The public can make donations by tapping the kiosks located across the airport, or by giving online. At the end of the month, the amount raised will be announced.
