The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism is launching an exciting ‘Bahamas Best Beaches’ photo competition using social media and both residents and US visitors will be able to participate. The lucky winner will receive a five day/four night stay at the Pelican Bay Hotel courtesy of the Grand Bahama Island Promotion Board.

Andre Miller, General Manager, Global Communications said, “The Ministry of Tourism is taking a step forward in the adoption of social media by using it to engage residents and past and potential visitors to showcase the beauty and variety of the beaches of The Bahamas.”The Ministry intends to increase opportunities for viral awareness of the destination, and this contest is expected to provide a fresh collection of high quality, user generated content which the Ministry will use for marketing purposes.

The Ministry has planned the competition with the aim of increasing the Ministry’s social following, and further establish its commitment to innovation and recognition of social media as a channel to reach out to target audiences.

Entrants should submit photos that are both engaging and unique. Photos should be uploaded via the Ministry’s Facebook.com/TravelBahamas page or posted via Twitter and Instagram @ VisitTheBahamas using the hashtag #BahamasBestBeaches. The Facebook contest page and the Bahamas.com/BestBeaches landing page will be where all the entries can be viewed from all social channels in an aggregated view.

The summer promotion will be launched August 4, 2014 and all submissions must be in by August 31, 2014. There will be three weeks for submissions and one week for voting.
