Awards and global expansion headline UNIGLOBE Travel International Conference in Barcelona

VANCOUVER – UNIGLOBE Travel International has recognized 2009 top performers and announced expansion to new markets at its Global Rendezvous in Barcelona, Spain.

VANCOUVER – UNIGLOBE Travel International has recognized 2009 top performers and announced expansion to new markets at its Global Rendezvous in Barcelona, Spain.

In his corporate address to delegates from more than forty countries, UNIGLOBE president and chief operating officer Martin Charlwood congratulated system members for their achievements on behalf of the UNIGLOBE brand. “In reviewing the history of the expansion of our brand into new markets, through various countries and across multiple continents over the last three decades, UNIGLOBE agencies and global partners should be very proud of what they have accomplished.”

AWARD RECIPIENTS AND CATEGORIES

Robert Vanderwallen, Owner of UNIGLOBE Robins Travel in Wilrijk, Belgium, was awarded Global Franchise Owner of the Year.

UNIGLOBE Geo Travel , with locations in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba achieved top spot as the largest revenue producing agency in the UNIGLOBE system.
Global Partner agency UNIGLOBE Dahlan Tours and Travel , owned by Hani Dahlan and servicing Iraq and Jordan, earned the distinction of Global Partner Agency of the Year.

In recognition of outstanding commitment and dedication to the UNIGLOBE Standards of Excellence, UNIGLOBE Travel British Isles Ltd. ., servicing England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, The Republic of Ireland, and the Channel Isles received the Agency Support Excellence Award.
UNIGLOBE Variety International Travel Co. Ltd of Bangkok, Thailand, was honored with an award for going Beyond Expectations in delivery of the UNIGLOBE brand promise.

Beverley Desantis, Partner, Corporate Sales, and Marketing for UNIGLOBE Geo Travel was recognized for outstanding service to charitable causes with the Whatever it Takes award. Desantis and her team have raised more than US$220,000 for Plan International
. Martin Charlwood also made the announcement that UNIGLOBE Travel International had chosen Plan as its global charity, with a focus on fundraising for education, skills training, shelter, and fresh water projects for girls and young women in impoverished countries.

Jan Prasek, owner of UNIGLOBE PT Travel of Prague and Bratislava acquired the Master Franchise rights to the UNIGLOBE brand in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

UNIGLOBE will celebrate its thirty-year anniversary in 2011. “What has separated UNIGLOBE franchises from their competitors is not technology, marketing, or innovation,” said chairman and chief executive officer U.
