Airlines Cancelling Flights as Fighting Escalates in Israel and Lebanon

Amid fears of a wider response by Iran between the Hezbollah Lebanese Shia Islamist political party and Israel, several airlines are cancelling flights into and out of the region.

Also on the list of airlines who have cancelled flights are Transavia (Dutch based), Corendon (Malta based), Aegean (Greek based), and Greek Universal.

This latest escalation began on Sunday when the Hezbollah movement aligned with Iran launched hundreds of drones and rockets on Beirut. On the other side, the Israeli military launched jets which struck Lebanon targets.

All this stems from the July 31, 2024, assassination of Palestinian Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
