Airbus and BMW Group have made significant advancements in quantum computing, in order to harness its considerable potential for future mobility innovations. During the Q2B event, the companies announced the winners of the Quantum Computing Challenge, an international effort designed to discover and develop quantum solutions for the most promising applications in mobility.
The influence of quantum computing extends across various sectors, enhancing our ability to address numerous computational challenges more efficiently. This includes optimizing supply chains and manufacturing processes, as well as advancing vehicle and aircraft design. Quantum-inspired algorithms, which can currently be executed on classical high-performance computers, are poised to influence the development of next-generation mobility solutions, providing insight into the profound effects that genuine quantum algorithms may have on future advancements in this field.
Launched in December 2023 and organized by The Quantum Insider, the Quantum Computing Challenge seeks to motivate the international quantum computing community to transition theoretical solutions from the laboratory to practical applications within the transportation sector. A panel of distinguished quantum computing specialists, representing both academia and industry, collaborated with Airbus and the BMW Group to evaluate over 100 submissions and identify five winners. Each of these winners received a monetary award of €30,000.
