Air Canada, the flag carrier of Canada, has finalized a firm order with Airbus for an additional five state-of-the-art single-aisle A220-300 aircraft, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of its initial delivery of the A220 in December 2019.
This new order follows a previous commitment made in 2016 for 45 A220-300s, along with a subsequent order in 2022 for 15 more units. With this latest acquisition, Air Canada’s total firm orders for the A220-300 now amounts to 65 aircraft.
As the inaugural operator of the A220-300 in North America since January 2020, Air Canada has successfully deployed its A220 fleet to over 70 destinations. The A220 is manufactured in Mirabel, Quebec, playing a vital role in the esteemed Canadian aerospace industry.
By the end of November 2024, Air Canada’s fleet comprises 134 Airbus aircraft, which includes models from the A320 Family, the A330 Family, and the A220-300. Additionally, Air Canada has placed an order for 26 A321XLRs.
