The Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Seychelles Tourism Academy remain committed and dedicated to work to ensure the well-being and employment satisfaction of the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management (ADHM) program graduates.

Minister Alain St.Ange in the presence of Mrs. Anne Lafortune, Principal Secretary for Tourism, and the Principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA), Mr. Flavien Joubert, met on Friday, September 19, 2014 with the management team of the Sainte Anne Resort and Ms. Sheila Paul, an ADHM graduate placed at the Sainte Anne Resort.

The main focus of the meeting was to discuss the training program put in place by the resort in order to prepare the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management (ADHM) program graduates for a management position at the Sainte Anne Resort and to review the different constraints and challenges, if any, being encountered today by the graduates.

Ms. Sheila Paul took the opportunity to discuss her position as a returning graduate but also as that of a mature student.

Mr. Norbert Couvreur, the General Manager of the resort, took the opportunity to provide details on the progressing route of staff at their establishment and the importance placed for graduates to complete each module, falling as part of a training session which will see the returning graduates move from one department to the next and in so doing cover in detail what managing a hotel is all about.

Minister St.Ange said as he thanked the resort’s management for the open and frank meeting, and that Ms. Sheila Paul should be an example, because she embarked on a career in the hospitality field as a mature student. “She knew that there would be challenges, but she was determined to give it a go. We are conscious of the challenges she today faces, because as a trainee management staff, she is also the breadwinner for her home,” the Minister said.

A series of visits to the employment locations of other ADHM returning graduates will soon follow.
