HONG KONG – Hong Kong Airlines announced today that commencing on19 December 2014, the company will launch a five-time weekly service betweenHong Kong and Sapporo, Japan. Airbus A330 aircraft will be deployed on the route, operating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Mr. Li Dianchun, Commercial Director of Hong Kong Airlines said, “Hong Kong Airlines is delighted to announce theSapporo route and offer our passengers more travel options flying toJapan. According to the official figures from Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) on the total number of foreign tourists visitingJapan from January to July 2014, an increase of 21.6% for Hong Kong tourists was resulted compared to the same period in 2013. And the total number of Mainland China andThailand tourists visiting Japan rose by 90.8% and 61% respectively. Passengers from Mainland China andThailand can choose to transit throughHong Kong to Japan. Together with the strong performance, we believe thatSapporo will become another hot-picked destination in Hong Kong Airlines’ network.”
The new service to Sapporo is complimented by the Airlines’ daily flight to Okinawa and a twice-weekly flight to Kagoshima, bringing it to a total of 21 weekly flights betweenHong Kong and Japan.
