New was welcomed not only by regular travelers, but by the tourism industry as well, when a Middle East airline announced it would reach more destinations in Europe.

Emirates, Dubaiโ€™s national airline, will operate an inaugural flight to Norwayโ€™s capital city of Oslo, before then launching flights on Friday to the European and Belgian capital of Brussels. Both destinations will be served with daily flights, using the airlineโ€™s B777-300ER in a three-class configuration of First, Business, and Economy class.

The new flights also offer a substantial upload capacity for fresh produce and flowers to reach yet more market places in Europe with new destination Oslo opening up the Norwegian market and new destination Brussels opening the doors to one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe, where restaurants and ethnic households are keen to see fresh produce arrive from Eastern Africa to satisfy demand.

In turn the tourism sectors across the three East African destinations of Emirates – Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania – will likely benefit as the one-stop connections will allow Norwegians and Belgians to fly to East Africa for holidays, once a day to Entebbe and twice a day each to Nairobi and Dar es Salaam.

At the same time, Emirates yesterday switched from the B777 to the A380 for their flights to Frankfurt, a significant capacity increase and also a potential bonus for East Africaโ€™s tourism industry as more seats, combined with strong marketing in Germany, can easily translate in more tourist visitors for Mombasaโ€™s beaches and the regionโ€™s national parks.
