KINGSTON, Jamaica – Aimed at exposing 25 members of the Jamaica Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency’s (PICA’s) executive management team to protocol and professional etiquette in its varied forms, the Tourism Product Development Company Ltd. (TPDCo.) is producing a training initiative.

TPDCo., in its continued bid to improve service quality across various sectors in the tourism industry, has embarked on this two-day training initiative for executives of PICA, with the expectation that upon completion, the participants will be better equipped to effectively lead their teams to manage relations with the public both at the passport office and at the air and sea ports.

The course comprises Protocol and Diplomacy including the Vienna Convention, diplomatic missions, inviolability, the table of precedence and modes of address. It also includes matters dealing with the office of the Governor General (OGG) and the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), board room etiquette, social graces, wardrobe management and voice and speech.

An experienced and distinguished faculty provided the training. This included the Hon. Marigold Harding, Custos of St. Andrew, Ambassador Elinor Felix, Chief of State Protocol in the Office of the Prime Minister, Charmaine Henry Lecturer at the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) and Captain Everton Phillips of Wedding Planner Plus.

According to Executive Director of TPDCo., Dennis Hickey, “we are very pleased to partner with PICA in this program as they are leading from the front by training their executive team who will be applying and imparting what has been learnt so that the organization, which is vital to the tourism industry can take their service quality to even higher levels.”

The Protocol and Etiquette training program will culminate with a semi-formal luncheon on Friday August 22 at which Ambassador Evadney Coye, Consultant to the Governor General, will be the keynote speaker.
