(eTN) โ€“ EturboNews received a response from British Airways (BA)regarding what the airline is doing in response to the ebola outbreak.

BA issued this statement:

โ€œWe have temporarily suspended our flights to and from Liberia and Sierra Leone until 31 August 2014 due to the deteriorating public health situation in both countries.

โ€œThe safety of our customers, crew and ground teams is always our top priority and we will keep the route under constant review in the coming weeks.

โ€œCustomers with tickets on those routes are being offered a range of options including a full refund and the ability to rebook their flights to a later date.โ€

In recent reports, the Centers for Disease Control elevated the ebola virus to level 1 status. This means the outbreak is now officially out of control. Level 1 is reserved for the highest level of response by the agency.

The outbreak now extends to Nigeria, and this is what caused the upgrade in status. In Liberia, bodies are being dumped in the streets.

So far 932 people have lost their lives to the ebola virus, and the CDC fears that the virus will spread worldwide.
