SUVA, Fiji – Fiji Airways, Fiji’s national airline, has announced a suite of changes that will greatly enhance passenger inflight accommodations and allow travelers to begin their Fijian experience prior to arriving at their final destination. Officially taking effect on September 1, 2014, new inflight dining, a new inflight magazine, and upgraded inflight duty free sales services will be rolled out in the upcoming months.

The Signature Dish –Fiji Airways has unveiled an overhaul of its “Fijian Style” catering across Economy and Business class. New for Business Class passengers, the Signature Dish menu offers a choice of hot meals inspired by renowned Fijian culinary expert and executive chef of Castaway Island Resort, Chef Lance Seeto, in collaboration with other Fijian chefs. A Signature Welcome Cocktail and mocktail will also be introduced in partnership with Fiji Rum, along with an hors d’oeuvre service and specially selected wines. Members of the Fiji Chefs Association have been invited to work with the airline on future menu cycles to ensure that the food served onboard continues to be Fijian inspired.

Fiji Airways also completely overhauled its box-presented “Fijian-Style” Economy Class meals and will instead provide tray service with hot meals. Economy class passengers on long haul flights to/from Los Angeles and Hong Kong will receive two hot meals; medium haul services (Fiji – Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific) will receive one hot meal; and those on short trips will receive substantial, high quality snacks.

FijiTime Inflight Magazine – Fiji Airways has appointed Cover Story Limited, producers of Fiji-based Mai Life Travel magazine, as the publisher of its redesigned complimentary inflight magazine, FijiTime. The new FijiTime will have 90 pages of travel features and articles on journeying to and within Fiji as well as other Fiji Airways and Fiji Link destinations. The publication was completely revamped to better serve guests on board and to inspire and motivate further travel and repeat business.

Upgraded Duty Free Sales Service – In partnership with King Power Traveler, Fiji Airways has signed a full concession service contract for the provision of inflight Duty Free sales services onboard its entire international fleet. Fiji Airways’ Managing Director and CEO Stefan Pichler commented, “Duty Free is a key focus area for us as a part of our onboard offerings to customers. We embarked on a comprehensive and ambitious program to upgrade what we currently offer as Duty Free on board and grant our guests access to world class Duty Free shopping in the sky. This means smart shopping on board for premier consumer brands as well as genuine Fijian brands.”
