The Tourism Authority of Thailand in the UK and Ireland had some encouraging numbers to report.
January – May 2014
UK: +7.02% to 407,699 tourists
Ireland: +9.44% to 24,825 tourists
May 2014
UK: +14.09% to 66,251 tourists
Ireland: -0.2% to 3,928 tourists
This is very encouraging, however, our hard work must continue to ensure that forward bookings are not affected and to maintain increased visitor arrivals throughout the summer months. In order to achieve this we have put together the following short term recovery plan:
Fam trip to Thailand with Thai Airways – 25 guests including 8 media (trade and consumer press) and 17 tour operators / travel agents from the UK & Ireland. TAT’s (global) aim is to bring over 1,000 guests to Thailand to see the situation for themselves in Bangkok and nationwide. A gala evening and briefing will be held on 25th July to officially welcome everyone to Thailand. We are currently putting a post itinerary together which will include Bangkok, Kanchanaburi and Hua Hin to showcase Thailand’s beauty and variety within just 3 hours from the capital.
Joint marketing campaigns with 3 key tour operators (partners TBC) to boost summer bookings
Joint marketing campaign with Etihad Airways and Eithad Holidays to launch in July
National UK radio campaign to boost consumer confidence in Thailand again and promote the message that Thailand is open for business as usual
