ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigerian Arik Airlines on Thursday advised intending passengers to ensure that they set out early for their flights to prevent loss of travel time.
This advice was given in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ikeja by the airline’s Public Relations Manager, Mr Ola Adebanji.
The statement said that early arrival at the airport was necessary due to new security measures put in place at all the nation’s airports by the Federal Government.
It said that the Federal Government had put extra security measures in place due to the security challenges in the country.
“The Federal Government has put extra security measures in place at all airports.
“Hence, this could cause traffic snare on airport roads leading to unforeseen delays or missed flights for travelers,” the statement said.
It said that the new security measures being implemented by government included the visible presence of more security personnel and check points on the airport route.
It added that passengers should familiarise themselves with check-in procedures at the airport from where they would be travelling.
According to the statement, Arik Airlines check-in counter opens two hours before departure for domestic flights, three hours for regional and four hours for international flights.
“Passengers must have completed check-in for their flights prior to check-in closure which is 30 minutes for the domestic flights, forty-five minutes for regional flights and 90 minutes for international flights before scheduled departure time’’.
The statement said that the airline had also provided an online check-in service aimed at customers who wanted to save time.
The online check-in service, it said, was designed to enable check-in and choosing of seat from 24 hours to five hours before international flights’ departure.
It said that online check-in and choosing of seat for domestic and regional flights was three hours before departure.
The statement urged all Arik Airline’s intending passengers to be aware of the changes.
