Seychelles carnival parade of the island’s 2014 Carnaval International De Victoria and the 26 International Delegations with the 151 members of the International Press present has given it the thumbs up saying that it was bigger and better that the previous editions. This year’s edition of the carnival in the Indian Ocean was being jointly co-hosted by Seychelles, La Reunion, Madagascar , Mayotte and South Africa KwaZulu Natal. The Seychelles contingent in the carnival with some 24 floats had also raised they game and they proudly paraded alongside the carnival giants such as Notting Hill Carnival of the UK, the Brazil Carnival, the Carnival from Trinidad and Tobago, the Carnival from Indonesia and the Carnival from Italy. Many foreign dignitaries were also in the Seychelles to see for themselves this carnival of carnivals that is now appearing on the calendar of world events.

It was Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture who had the honor to open the carnival and he was surrounded by press personalities from right across the world as the carnival parade closed. The press gave Seychelles the thumbs up saying that the islands had probably not yet realized how big and important what they were staging was for the world at large. All the press were overtaken by the diversity of culture present in the carnival which remained one of the key elements that helped propel the events to be counted in the list of top five carnivals of the world.

Minister Alain St.Ange was heard saying to the press that he was thrilled with this 2014 edition of the carnival that is set to be seen as a catalyst for Unity in the region and for South-South Cooperation as it also gets the North-South dialogue to also kept alive. “Seychelles has successfully staged what many tried to do. Seychelles is an example because Seychelles is staging this carnival for the world and implicating the world to be performers themselves. So Congratulations is in order for the Seychelles” the press said.
