LOS ANGELES, CA – Fiji Airways, Fiji’s national airline, announced today new interline cargo agreements with five other airlines for the carriage of freight between Fiji and numerous cities in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States.

The new agreements are part of Fiji Airways’ strategy to enhance airline partnerships across its passenger and freight business and to allow Fijian exporters to reach new markets abroad. The new interline partners include Korean Air, Hawaiian Airlines, Etihad Airways, Malaysia Airlines, and Hong Kong Airlines.

Stefan Pichler, managing director and CEO of Fiji Airways comments, “We’re always on the lookout for new partnerships that enhance our network as well as position Fiji Airways and Fiji as a great airline and destination, respectively, in the international aviation business. We’re pleased that we were able to sign the new interline deals, as they provide Fijian businesses more opportunities for the trading of goods & services on the international sphere.”

Fiji Airways will provide its new partners with cargo feeds from 34 of its flights and in return will be able to link up to 47 new international flights.

Pichler adds, “Our freight customers will be able to ship cargo to new destinations, such as Beijing through Hong Kong Airlines. The Etihad Airways arrangement will complement our cargo interline deal with Emirates, expanding our reach in the Middle East and Europe. We are also giving further cargo capacity to Hawaii on Hawaiian Airlines through Auckland and Sydney. Moreover, Fijian businesses are now able to import products from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.”

“Additionally, we are strengthening relationships with local freight agents, as this continues to be a major focus area for our Freight Department. Since Fiji Airways, by design, is limited to grow cargo capacity on its own, we continue to look for ways to enhance business opportunities for our cargo partners.”

New export destinations include:

On Etihad Airways:
• Dubai
• Johannesburg
• Moscow
• Amsterdam
• London
• Dallas
• Brussels
• Zurich
• Paris
• Frankfurt
• Colombo

On Hong Kong Airlines:
• Beijing
• Shanghai
• Hangzhou
• Xiamen
• Guilin
• Haikou
• Sanya
• Nanning
