Reunion Island’s Cimendef Association is set to organize a weekend dedicated to Reunion Island on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4, two days during which Rognac (Bouches du Rhone) will come alive to the rhythms of the Ile de la Reunion and its traditions.

Organized by Cimendef Association and sponsored by artist Danyel Waro, the event, “Cape on the island of Reunion,” over the first weekend in May, will give visitors the opportunity to experience the culture, cuisine, and traditions of Reunion Island when its unique blend of French tradition interwoven with the Creole culture of the island will be showcased.

The program will feature Moringue demonstrations, workshops manufacturing traditional musical instruments, parades showing off folk outfits, initiations Maloya, and musical performances. The public will also be able to visit the craft stalls and various other exhibitions on the history of the island.

For gourmets, an evening dinner event is scheduled for Saturday, May 3. A menu, heavily influenced by the produce of the island with flavors consisting of pickled vegetables, samosas, and curry chicken with tomato rougail will no doubt delight the taste buds of everyone who makes the journey to Rognac.
