LIMA, Peru – Paracas National Reserve and the Ballestas Islands located in Peru’s southern region of Ica expects to receive more than 15,000 visitors during Holy Week thanks to the improvement of tourist services and the promotional entry fee.

Pedro Gamboa, head at the National Service of Protected Areas by the State (Sernanp) told Andina News Agency the current entry fee for domestic tourists who want to visit Paracas National Reserve and the Ballestas Islands is 15 soles.

Gamboa noted that the Sernanp is planning to improve surveillance services for the safety and security of tourists , as well as to increase the number of toilets in the area for a better comfort of the visitors.

According to Gamboa, in 2013, the Paracas National Reserve and the Ballestas islands received more than 500,000 visitors.

Paracas National Reserve, one of the most important tourist destinations in the country, is located 4 hours away from Lima. It has 335,000 hectares dedicated to the preservation and protection endangered species.
