Earlier today Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok has set aside its long-term parking area to host around 1,000 farmers coming to Bangkok to demand rice-pledging payments from the caretaker government.
Later today the Thai farmers called off a tractor drive to Bangkok’s main airport to protest against not being paid under a rice subsidy scheme after an assurance they would get their money, a spokesman said, welcome news for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
The airport is functioning normally, flights are taking off and are landing on time. No protest disturbance close to the Bangkok airport is expected.
