After the elections took place last Sunday in a relatively peaceful atmosphere, Focus Asia provided a general update about the situation in Bangkok.

As of yesterday, all demonstrators from Lat Phrao intersection and the Victory Monument roundabout left their rally sites and relocated to the Lumpini Park rally site. This has resulted in the Lat Phrao intersection and the Victory Monument roundabout being opened to traffic as normal, significantly easing congestion in the city.

There is still an official state of emergency in Bangkok; however, there is no curfew in place in Bangkok or any other part of Thailand, resulting in a very calm and normal atmosphere in the city, as though there were no state of emergency in effect at all. Local residents and international visitors may continue to travel within Bangkok and other destinations in the country as usual.

The ongoing anti-government protests remain peaceful and are shrinking in size. They are contained within the following rally sites:

– Pathumwan intersection
– Rajaprasong intersection
– Saladaeng intersection (Lumpini Park)
– Asoke intersection
– Government Complex
