Seychelles Minister: door to door and face to face

The La Digue island visit and the meeting that took place with the island’s tourism trade last Friday remains a priority for the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture. Minister Alain St.Ange was questioned by the press following the press release issued after his La Digue island meeting.

“The visit to La Digue Island so early in 2014 shows the set priority of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and of the Tourism Board to remain connected with the tourism trade as a whole. The Tourism Trade Meeting we had on La Digue gave us the opportunity to hear, from the operators themselves, the challenges they face and their aspiration for their island,” Minister St.Ange said.

“We carried out many such meetings last year, and again in 2014, we shall be going out of our offices in Victoria and meeting with those in the front line of our tourism industry. We shall also be visiting establishments as much as possible to help our operators as and when necessary,” the Minister said.

The next meeting in the series is set for the island of Praslin. “Here we are proposing to undertake a door-to-door approach which will enable us to visit each establishment and meet with management and staff. Many hoteliers have told us that they are not at ease speaking in front of a large crowd, this is why we want to undertake this door to door approach for Praslin Island and see how this personalized approach is received,” Minister Alain St.Ange said.

The Praslin island visit is being planned for the coming couple of weeks.
