Hurghada: The version of Egypt tourism you don’t hear about

HURGHADA, Egypt (eTN) – It is hard to believe that this town was ever a fishing town, but it was some 25 or so years ago.

HURGHADA, Egypt (eTN) – It is hard to believe that this town was ever a fishing town, but it was some 25 or so years ago. And given today’s current events, Hurghada is Egypt’s travel and tourism curve ball.

After seeing the degree of upon which people who are employed in some way in travel and tourism in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor are suffering because of the current political situation in the country, this case simply cannot be made about Hurghada.

Here in Hurghada, Egypt has shown us an equivalent to a kind of “tourism” insurance”–by offering a “sand and sea” option to its plethora of tourism offers.

Whether you are here to enjoy the sand and sea and/or it is party scene you are after, Hurghada is your place. Unlike the deserted hotels in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor, the hotels in Hurghada are enjoying occupancy levels in the double digits, with most operating at 90 to 95 percent. So, you can expect a crowd when you get here.

The atmosphere here in Hurghada in comparison to that of Cairo, Aswan and Luxor is, for a lack of better analogy, like night and day. Check out the below video version of this report to catch a glimpse:

But, just like Cairo, Aswan and Luxor, Hurghada is safe for tourists.
