Yes, FREE! India’s Ministry of Tourism is offering free SIM cards for tourists’ mobile phones upon arrival in India for travelers on an e-visa.

India took this tourist-friendly step when the Ministry of Tourism, along with telco company, BSNL, launched a free pre-loaded sim card for foreign tourists landing in Delhi, India, on an e-visa.

The cards will be extended to all 15 airports in the country where the e-visa facility is available.

The sim card has preloaded talk time so that the immediate needs of tourists can be met.

Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma launched the scheme on February 15. A help line in 12 languages is already available to help tourists who may have questions or need assistance.
