South Africans traveling to Norway and/or Switzerland have a new reason to be dismayed: visa hikes.

Effective November 1, South Africans traveling to Norway will be subjected to an increase in visa fee, from R670 to R780, for a short stay visa, Category C (one, two or multiple entries) as well as airport transit visa, Category A. Child visa (6-12 years) fee is also increasing from R390 to R450.

Switzerland, on the other hand, will be imposing a R110 increase in visa fee (from R700 to R810) for South Africans wishing to obtain a Schengen (tourist/transit) visa. For a child visa (6-12 years), the fee will increase from R410 to R480.

South Africa Tourism Update has said these increases are in line with annual visa fee increases.
