Shenyang’s new “EXPO” opens Saturday

With a record attendance approaching 8,000 registered delegates from throughout China, the Shenyang New World EXPO (EXPO) opens this Saturday (September 24) hosting China’s Annual National Planning Conference 2016 (ANPC) for the 3-day event.

Cliff Wallace, Chairman of the EXPO’s private management and operating company said, “Our professional management and operating team is enthusiastic and ready. The venue is opening 6 months earlier than planned. For this special event, the project managers, contractors, city and staff have been great in collectively meeting the challenges.”

With 24,000 sqm of gross exhibition space and 4,000 sqm of multi-functional convention, meeting and banquet space, EXPO is Northeast China’s newest and most innovative public assembly venue. The ANPC’s delegates will gather together during the opening day’s plenary sessions in EXPO’s 20,000 square meter Hall 4.

EXPO’s General Manager, Diane CHEN, said, “We have a strong senior management team and staff in place to meet the needs of the event which is using every square meter of EXPO’s rental space and additionally, an abundance of ancillary space within the venue, all totaling some 30,000 sqm. Also being used are approximately 16,000 square meters of space in the adjacent retail mall space and its exterior Plaza.”

Shenyang New World EXPO (Management) Ltd. (SML) is EXPO’s private professional management and operating company. SML is a sister company to Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Ltd. SML is under contract with New World China Land (Shenyang) Ltd, the multi-use project owner which also includes 2 hotels, a massive K11 Art Mall, 3 serviced apartment towers, and 2 office towers. The project construction area is 1.4 million sqm.
