Helau from Duesseldorf to the Seychelles Carnival

Today Germany confirms that Dusseldorf Carnival will be participating in the Carnaval International de Victoria in Seychelles in April 2014.

Dr. Rolf Herpens, the Vice President of the Dusseldorf Carnival Committee, confirmed that the known and very popular Dusseldorf Carnival will be flying back to Seychelles for the 2014 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria that will this year take place during the last weekend of the month of April.

For the first time in 2014, the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Carnaval International de Victoria held in Seychelles will take place from April 25-27, 2014. The Seychelles Tourism Board moved the carnival from the month of February to April so that it does not clash with the traditional dates of carnivals around the world to enable the most known carnivals of the world to descend to Seychelles to be part of the carnival procession in Victoria. The change of dates also moves the event away from the Roman Catholic Lent period as a sign of respect to the Church in Seychelles.

Dr. Herpens, who met with Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and Mrs. Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, at the Minister’s Offices at the National Conference Centre in Victoria confirmed that the decision had been taken for Germany to be present in the unique carnival of carnivals in Seychelles 2014. They were happy that the dates of the Seychelles carnival had been delayed as it previously clashed with the date of their own carnival.

Germany is today the second most important tourism market for Seychelles, and the good working relationship with the Dusseldorf Carnival is handled by Edith Hunzinger, the Seychelles Tourism Board Manager in Frankfurt. Dr. Herpens has also invited Seychelles to send a small delegation to showcase the beauty of Seychelles at their known carnival at the end of the month of February. “Dusseldorf will host the Seychelles delegation and help you make Germany dream of the beauty of your islands, especially as the carnival is held in the peak of winter.”

Minister St.Ange has accepted the offer and will be preparing a promotional banner with a carnival delegation pictured on one of the beautiful beaches of Seychelles. “This banner will be the backdrop for the Seychelles delegation as they parade through the streets of Dusseldorf next February. As the carnival is broadcast live nationwide across Germany, we want to use the beauty of the Seychelles with our music to make our mark at the Dusseldorf Carnival,” Minister St.Ange said.
