THE HAGUE, The Netherlands – From Wednesday, September 21, to Sunday, September 25, The Hague will revolve entirely around peace and justice. For five days, the city will focus on the International UN Day of Peace on September 21 with the annual Just Peace Festival. With over forty activities, the Just Peace Festival is the Netherlands’ biggest peace festival.

Over forty peace activities

The five-day festival program consists of a mix of music, performing arts, museum activities, debates, and sports. Among other things, visitors can participate in the Peace Walk, take a look inside international organizations, and participate in various activities during Peace in the Park. Various activities for children are also organized.

Several of the featured activities:

Peace Walk

During the Peace Walk on Saturday, September 24, participants run along historical monuments and sites around the Peace Palace. There are several courses, including a 1.5 kilometer children’s run and a 5 and 10 kilometer run for adults.

International Open Day

The Hague has over 240 international organizations. Many of them open their doors to the public on Sunday, September 25, during The Hague’s International Open Day. Among other things, visitors can take a look behind the scenes at the Yugoslavia Tribunal, Unicef, and the courts of the Peace Palace.

Peace in the Park

On Sunday, September 25, the Peace in the Park festival also takes place: in the Palace Garden the focus will be on music, stories, and other activities. The festival aims to make visitors aware of peace and justice and to take action on the basis of that awareness.
