The FBI says an American Airlines flight on its way from Boston to Los Angeles was diverted to Oklahoma City after a passenger stripped nude and later tried to open an emergency exit door before being subdued by members of the New England Revolution and others, the FBI said.

Members of the MLS team were among those who grabbed the passenger near an exit door, FBI spokesman Gary Johnson said. The man, whose name was not released, was taken into custody and placed under psychiatric evaluation, Johnson said.

The flight was back in the air an hour later and landed in Los Angeles without incident, American Airlines said.
