The World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYTSC), started its 22nd annual conference today in Sydney, where it is set to welcome a global delegation representing 120 countries during the four day event. With Sydney representing the gateway into Australian youth tourism, the event is set to bring memorable celebrations and unparalleled business opportunities.

WYSTC is the largest global conference for the youth and student travel sector and connects the diverse markets and organizations that serve millions of young people who travel to study, work, travel for leisure and increase their cultural understanding.

With the youth travel sector undergoing a huge expansion and evolution over the last decade, WYSTC is attended by decision makers from the worldโ€™s most respected organizations in youth, student and educational travel, support services, regional, state and national tourism boards as well as non-governmental bodies.

Reflecting the broadening of the sector, which is now worth over $218 billion globally, and its increasing mass market appeal, the conference has attracted speakers from non-travel specific brands such as Google, Mastercard and MTV.

Over the course of the week delegates will participate in interactive discussions on youth travel and emerging economies, innovative ways of reaching out to young travelers and the evolution in the way that young people travel today. The conference will also see the publication of the highly anticipated New Horizonโ€™s III research on Friday, the industryโ€™s largest ever survey into youth and student travel.

The conference opened today with remarks from David Chapman, Director General, WYSE Travel Confederation: โ€œThe youth and student travel industry is going through an incredibly exciting evolution and the diversity of delegates we have attending reflects just how much the sector has gained global reach and established itself firmly as a strong sector in the greater travel industry.โ€

Over the four days delegates will be able to take part in special seminars and workshops run by leading authorities in their respective fields ensuring that brands can adapt to meet the increasing demands of youth travelers. Today the entire Confederation will convene to discuss their various sector needs. Throughout the entire conference there will be industry think tanks and tech tables lead by the best of the youth and travel industry. The highlight culminating in the opening night event set at The Rocks, overlooking the Sydney Opera House.
