Yagao Meihua Hotel Management Co, Ltd, an entity of Huazhu, announced the opening of the Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao Airport on August 28. Following a large-scale renovation by Mercure of the Junrui Hotel Shanghai which closed several years ago, the hotel now has a completely new look and is expected to instantly become a new landmark in Shanghai Hongqiao area. Complementing the Mercure Shanghai Royalton, the Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao Airport welcomes its guests with a comfortable, convenient and unforgettable accommodation experience which combines a romantic French style with local characteristics that define Shanghai.

The opening of the Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao Airport represents an organic combination of a city’s unique characteristics and international standards. The hotel is a good example of Mercure’s success in incorporating its brand culture into hotel management. Mercure owns more than 750 hotels in 51 countries.

The other Mercure in Shanghai, the Mercure Shanghai Royalton, was the first hotel to be directly managed by Yagao Meihua Hotel Management Co, Ltd in Shanghai and it has already demonstrated excellent results in terms of performance, thanks to Huazhu’s strong membership system and abilities in customer acquisition combined with Accor’s international management and distribution platforms. These positive results have served as a strong encouragement for Mercure to further expand its presence in China and laid a foundation for the successful opening of the new hotel. Shanghai is a vibrant international metropolis with infinite possibilities. With its superior location and comprehensive suite of facilities, the Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao Airport provides convenience for travelers visiting the city while meeting today’s accommodation needs. More importantly, Huazhu’s and Accor’s booking systems have been fully integrated, allowing their members to enjoy benefits and to be able to make reservations on either platform. By connecting their loyalty program members are sharing 75 million high-quality members, expanding the scope of rights and benefits for existing members and allow exchanging points on either platform.

Mr. Sun Wu, Executive Vice President and CEO of Upscale Brands Unit at Huazhu Hotels Group, mentioned: there are four mid- and upscale brands which are managed by Yagao Meihua mainly focusing on first- and second-tier cities as well as major business centers. Shanghai has become the main market for Huazhu’s expansion in the mid- and upscale hotel market. Among the more than 30 Mercure projects for which the company has signed contracts, 10 are located in Shanghai. The company plans to establish a steady presence in several first- and second-tier cities, then move into a second stage of growth by expanding into third-tier cities.

The Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is located at 398 Konggang 1st Road, opposite the entrance to Hongqiao International Airport T1, only 7.3 kilometers from T2 and 8.4 kilometers from Hongqiao Railway Station. As the hotel is adjacent to Shanghai Metro Line 10, it takes only 10 minutes to Shanghai Zoo and 17 minutes to the National Exhibition and Convention Center by subway. The superb location provides easy access to many of the nearby scenic spots. The hotel is an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers who want to experience the city’s local characteristics amid French-style elegance.

The Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao Airport has 224 exquisite rooms which are not only reflective of the old Shanghai decor but also incorporate French elements into the details. The well-designed deluxe king rooms are equipped with a set of comfortable sofas, a Philips 43″ LED TV and free internet, offering guests an exclusive private space. The spacious privilege rooms on the higher floors expand on the theme, adding an independent desk, a coffeemaker, a clean oversized bathroom and comfortable shower facilities, allowing guests to relax after a busy day.
