Russian tour operators who will start selling trips to Egypt after the advisory released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to stop selling tours for Egypt will face criminal proceedings.

โ€œIf with tourists who will go to Egypt after the advisory of Ministry of Foreign Affairs the tour operator who has sold to them service can be instituted by criminal proceedings under article 238 of the criminal code of Russian Federationโ€ โ€” the press secretary of Rostourism (Russian Tourism authority) Irina Shchegolkova has said in a press statement.

Since August 14, Egypt has been in a state of emergency, and in 11 provinces โ€” a curfew has been instituted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation urged Russians not to visit Egypt after August 15, and Rostourism recommended to Russian tour operators to suspend sales of rounds and to return money for already sold permits.

Meanwhile, a tour operator company, Coral Travel, on Wednesday reported that it resumed sales of rounds to Egypt from September 14 since โ€œfor the last week, the situation in Egypt was more or less stabilized, the curfew is reduced, and the situation in resorts remains quiet.โ€ Rostourism called this decision โ€œinadmissible and irresponsible.โ€
