Showcase.travel Digital returns for its 3rd edition

LONDON, England – ETOA’s flagship digital event returns to London on the 27th September.

LONDON, England – ETOA’s flagship digital event returns to London on the 27th September. This year’s edition will see speakers from Amadeus and Airbnb discuss how the travel industry can cope with major challenges in the world of digital travel.

Showcase.travel Digital returns for its 3rd edition with a refreshed format: a combination of keynote and practical sessions and pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings between the travel trade and technology providers.

“New Horizons in Digital Travel”, the opening keynote session, will focus on new technology and the big issues facing the digital travel industry now, and in the future. Speakers include Clare de Bono, Head of Product and Innovation for UK and Ireland at Amadeus, Dimitrios Buhalis, Head of Department of Tourism and Hospitality at Bournemouth University and Sofia Gkiousou, Public Policy at Airbnb, in a session moderated by Paul Richer, Senior Partner at Genesys Digital Transformation.

“As the digital travel space changes with ever-increasing pace, keeping up becomes more challenging. Consumers research, book and share travel experiences across multiple devices. Getting the right product to the right person at the right time remains fundamental in our industry. All this digital activity generates a wealth of rich data, and capitalising on that to improve both sales and the customer experience is foremost in many of our minds”, said Rachel Read, Head of Digital Trading at ETOA.

Showcase.travel Digital’s afternoon session, “Your next steps in digital”, will provide attendees with practical ideas that can be implemented relatively easily. “With a dizzying array of digital and technology options for the travel industry, it can be difficult to decide which areas to focus on first”, added Read. Topics such as “The Full 360: Driving more valuable custom through digital marketing” (Eysys), “Demystifying China Online – How to reach Chinese international travellers with your website” (CDNetworks) and “Busting the myths in travel technology” (Vibe) will be discussed in a session led by technology experts specialised in solutions for the tourism industry.

The travel trade will join technology providers for a day-long event comprising numerous networking opportunities, a keynote session, one-to-one meetings and a practical takeaway and “quick-wins” session for improving digital business. Travel professionals will have the chance to discuss the way their consumers are engaging with travel products and they’ll discover what new technology is on the way to help the travel industry navigate the changing landscape.
