eTN hotel evaluation: Hyatt Regency at Denver Convention Center

The Hyatt Regency at the Denver Convention Center is an excellent choice when attending an event at the Denver Convention Center. The Hyatt Regency Denver Convention Center is the closest hotel to the center.

The hotel is also a good choice when exploring Denver. Many sites, shopping, and restaurants are all within walking distance or a short taxi or tram ride away. Try the bicycle taxis – it’s a lot of fun.

Uber charges $32.00 to get you from and to the airport, while the taxi rate is a flat $40.00 plus tip. A railway system connects downtown Denver from the airport.

This Hyatt Regency, a modern skyscraper, has a signature restaurant, a very popular lobby bar, and a 24-hour convenience store. The store also serves as a Starbucks coffee shop. A good coffee or espresso anytime is a great plus for travelers on different inner time clocks.

A modern and complete 24-hour gym next to the indoor swimming pool adds to a healthy experience when staying at the Hyatt. Don’t think the pool water is dirty, it’s a salt water pool.

“I loved the jacuzzi outside where you can hear the hustle and bustle in front of the convention center,” commented a guest.

Many rooms on the upper floors (23-34) have a wonderful view over a busy Denver skyline and snow-covered mountain peaks are visible in the distance.

The Hyatt Regency Club on the 35th floor is a relaxing place to enjoy an afternoon cocktail or snacks. The breakfast in the club, however, wasn’t anything great, except for the view. Breakfast is finished at 9 am, and you had better be on time.

For those having access to the Hyatt Regency lounge, it would be worth letting the free breakfast in the lounge go, and instead investing in a breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. Guests could enjoy a nice breakfast buffet or order Eggs Benedict a la carte.

Hyatt should have a policy for premium guests to have access to the restaurant. An alternative could be a reduced rate for the better restaurant breakfast for those with access to the Hyatt lounge.

eTN Publisher Juergen Steinmetz said: “It was my second stay at the hotel within one month, and the Hyatt will be most likely my choice again when in Denver next time.

“I appreciated the front desk allowing me to check out at 8 pm without charge. The staff was helpful, and I felt every Hyatt associate cared.”

There is a downfall when staying in downtown Denver: Outrageous overnight parking fees.

Note: Hyatt Hotels and Resorts did not know about this evaluation. Full hotel rates were paid.
