JAL releases traffic results for 2013 summer vacation period

TOKYO, Japan – The JAL Group today announced passenger traffic results for the Japanese summer vacation period that spanned from August 09 to August 18, 2013.

TOKYO, Japan – The JAL Group today announced passenger traffic results for the Japanese summer vacation period that spanned from August 09 to August 18, 2013. The JAL Group carried a total of 265,884 passengers on its international flights during the 10-day stretch, and a total of 1,104,185 passengers domestically.

With 3.7% more seats offered on international routes this year, the number of passengers carried by JAL to and from overseas rose 4.3%, leading to an overall increase in load factor more than 90.0% as a result of strong travel demand to Japan due to weak Yen. By region, with the expansion of JAL SKY SUITE 777 service, the load factor was high to Europe at over 92.0%. JAL also operated a total of 17 chartered flights to destinations in Honolulu, Kona, Palau and Europe, eight extra flights to Honolulu during this peak season.

Domestically, Thank to extending applicable period of SAKITOKU, Super SAKUTOKU etc. Advanced Purchase Fare to meet travel demand, the number of passengers increased more than 4.0% in comparison to the same period last year. The load factor rose by more than one percentage point to 76.0%. There were 2.3% more seats available on domestic flights this summer and JAL also operated 16 extra flights, mainly to popular destinations like Okinawa and Sapporo.
