Many will remember Albert Durand as the guitarist from the days of Mickey and the Buccaneers of Mickey Mancham. This passionate of music from Praslin island who still spends quality time with his guitar entertaining those who pass by his Baie Ste. Anne house, is also a respected arts and craft trader. Albert Durant produces an array of souvenir items using a range on local products. On Monday this week, he was visited by Minister Alain St.Ange, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and Benjamine Rose, the PS for Culture.
“We continue to encourage more and more people to produce ‘Made in Seychelles’ items for sale to our visitors. Albert Durant and his son Micky are examples with abilities in the field of local souvenir products we need to appreciate, and our visit to his shop and workshop was to encourage him to continue to produce his range of products,” said Minister St.Ange after the visit and discussions with Albert Durant and also with his son, Micky.
It has also been confirmed that on behalf of the Department of Culture, Mr. Durant is also working on an iconic piece of musical instrument for this year’s Festival Kreol.
