On July 1, 2016, Hong Kong Airlines celebrated its daily direct service to Narita Airport in Tokyo, Japan.

The new service further strengthens the airline’s network in Japan. To mark the official launch of this route, Hong Kong Airlines held grand celebrations at both Hong Kong International Airport and Narita International Airport.

Before departure, all passengers scheduled to depart the flight from Hong Kong were presented with a commemorative certificate and luggage tag to mark the occasion and show gratitude for their support of the route. At the check-in counter, passengers were greeted with Japanese-themed decorations, emulating the cosmopolitan charm of Tokyo.
 

Passengers taking the inaugural flight expressed their excitement about the journey ahead.

On arrival at Narita International Airport following flight HX608, all passengers, flight crew and representatives of Hong Kong Airlines received a warm welcome from airport representatives. Narita International Airport also organized a traditional water cannon salute.
Later, all passengers scheduled to depart the flight from Tokyo were presented with specially designed goodie bag to commemorate Hong Kong Airlines’ flight HX609 from Narita Tokyo to Hong Kong. A simple yet special ribbon cutting ceremony was officiated by Mr. Saida Masaki, Senior Executive Vice President of Narita International Airport Corporation, Mr. Kimura Shigeo, MLIT Administrator of Narita International Airport and Mr. Li Dianchun, Chief Commercial Officer of Hong Kong Airlines, further bolstering cooperation between Tokyo and Hong Kong.


In his speech at the welcome ceremony, Mr. Li Dianchun said, “As the capital of Japan and one of Asia’s world cities, Tokyo has always been a top business and travel destination for Hong Kong travelers. In recent years, Hong Kong Airlines has been actively expanding our network in Japan. The opening of the Hong Kong-Narita route is of special strategic significance to us as we now cover this crucial destination in Kanto area. “
