Birth place of Lord Rama: Tourist destination

Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Rama, 150 kms from Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh, is being promoted as a tourism destination, with a day-long tour and walk.

Taking in the best of the religious place, the tour includes visiting the flowing Saryu river and temples. Ayodhya is also known as Saket and is an ancient city of India. It is believed to be the birthplace of the Lord Rama. More than 70 steps built by the Nawab of Awadh lead to the main Hanuman temple, one of the most popular temples of Lord Hanuman in North India.

The Heritage Arch linking Agra, Lucknow, and Varanasi will further boost tourism to the area. Several new hotels have come up in Lucknow and more are in the pipeline, as the old landmarks are being renovated.
