Homemade explosion set off in attack at Shanghai International Airport


Self-made explosives were used in an attack at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Sunday afternoon.

According to airport officials, the explosion was caused by “self-made explosives.”

The blast happened at 2:20 pm when “suspected homemade explosive material” exploded at the “C” check-in area at the airport’s Terminal 2, the Shanghai Airport Authority said on its Weibo account.


The three injured passengers have been rushed to hospital, it said, and the area has been cordoned off by police.
