BAKU, Azerbaijan – Russia believes the Caspian cruise tourism promising for the development of Azerbaijani-Russian tourism relations.

Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov has stated that the parties should use the advantage of the Caspian Sea.

“Weโ€™ve been talking about the need for a circular cruise route for a long time. The matter was raised at the summit of the Caspian countriesโ€™ transport ministers in Baku, Astrakhan and Tehran. But the demand for the launch of this route has not matured yet. The demand, however, is in sight. Travel agencies involved in cruise routes are expected to play the first violin. Weโ€™re ready to support this project,” Sokolov said.

He added Russia attaches great importance to the development of tourism ties with Azerbaijan.

“The issue of promotion of tourism between Russia and Azerbaijan is important. That, in turn, develops our transport systems. It is specially significant, given the proximity of our states and the availability of all types of transport communications is very important,” he added.

According to Sokolov, the Caspian region is precisely the region where sanatorium-resort field can foster.
