Going to Europe? Think twice if you have a U.S. passport

The U.S. government is strongly suggesting that its citizens who are planning to visit Europe this summer think again.

This is not helpful news for the European Travel and Tourism Industry and such alerts could easily be given for Europeans visiting the United States.

Despite the absence of any specific indications of threat, the US State Department warned that Europe could face attacks and singled out the European football (soccer to Americans) championships scheduled to take place in France.

The travel advisory read: “We are alerting U.S. citizens to the risk of potential terrorist attacks throughout Europe, targeting major events, tourist sites, restaurants, commercial centers and transportation.”

Explaining the draw to terrorists presented by large crowds, the State Department said, “Euro Cup stadiums, fan zones, and unaffiliated entertainment venues broadcasting the tournaments in France and across Europe represent potential targets for terrorists, as do other large-scale sporting events and public gathering places throughout Europe.”

Are chances to be involved in a possible terror attack on the same level as hitting a million Dollar jackpot twice in a week? No one knows.
