Acting Assistant Bahrain Undersecretary for Tourism Shaikh Khalid bin Hmood Al Khalifa chaired at the Bab Al Bahrain the tourism partners’ first meeting in which ways of revitalizing the national economy through boosting the tourism sector were discussed.

Shaikh Hmood said that the meeting aimed to enhance coordination between all parties concerned in order to devise an action plan to hold diverse functions and projects the year round so as to unify the kingdom’s tourism identity and increase nights spent by tourists.

Then, CEO of the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa said that occupancy rates fluctuate according to seasons and functions, noting that the action plan should focus on proposals regarding times of low hotel occupancy.

He also called upon those present to cooperate in order to promote the next Formula One race in Bahrain.

On his part, Vice President of the Bahrain Airport Company’s (BAC) for Commercial & Marketing Mr. Mohamed Khalil lauded the Culture Ministry’s participation in international gatherings and exhibitions, noting that BAC has many initiatives such as organizing tourism trips for transit passengers, and providing car parking areas for travelers coming from sisterly Saudi Arabia.

Concerning the Chairman of the Five-Star Hotels Committee at the Culture Ministry Abdul Nabi Al-Daylami, he lauded the functions and events organized by those hotels and highlighted their role in boosting tourism in the kingdom, noting that an integrated plan for tourism promotion have to be devised in coordination between hotels and all tourism partners.

Regarding Nada Azmi, the Economic Planning and Development Manager at the Economic Development Board (EDB), she highlighted the importance of rehabilitating tourist guides, in cooperation with “Tamkeen.”

Those present decided to include a program on partnership between the Tourism sector and Tamkeen within the action plan aiming to upgrade the quality of tourism services in the kingdom.

In the end, Shaikh Hmood thanked those who attended the meeting, and affirmed the importance of continuous cooperation between all sides, inviting them to meet once a month in order to discuss the joint action plan.
