ARLINGTON, Virginia – The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by US-based travel agencies experienced a slight drop at -0.71 percent year-over-year in the first six months of 2013 compared to the same period last year, according to a report today by ARC.

In dollars, this amounted to a total of US$46.1 billion vs. US$46.4 billion in 2012 and US$44 billion in 2011. Sales for June 2013 were down -1.38 percent at US$7.1 billion compared to June 2012 at US$7.2 billion.

Ticket transactions for the first six months of 2013 also decreased -1.17 percent to 76 million over the same period in 2012 at 76.5 million. Year-to-date passenger segments decreased -2.0 percent to 181.7 million compared to 185.4 million in the six months of 2012 and 184.6 million in 2011.
