Dozens of Dutch tourists are being stopped at the Serbian border, says the Dutch vehicle insurer’s bureau. The Serbian authorities say their proof of vehicle insurance, better known as the green card, is not valid.

The tourists are only being allowed into the country if they pay a fine or buy a new Serbian green card. Cards with the letters SCG to indicate Serbia are not being accepted. Last year, Serbia officially changed the code to SRB. However, card holders were promised that the old cards would be accepted until next year.

The Dutch vehicle insurer’s bureau says tourists are being made to pay unnecessary costs. Travellers to Serbia are being advised to apply for a new card.
