JAL announces international fare fuel surcharge

TOKYO, Japan – Japan Airlines (JAL) will maintain current levels of fuel surcharge on all international passenger tickets purchased in Japan between August 1 and September 30, 2015.

TOKYO, Japan – Japan Airlines (JAL) will maintain current levels of fuel surcharge on all international passenger tickets purchased in Japan between August 1 and September 30, 2015.

The fuel surcharge benchmark list (sales in Japan) for the fiscal year of 2015 between April 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016 (see below) has been adjusted from fiscal year 2014 to further strengthen the resistance against a fluctuating exchange rate for the Japanese yen. Thus the currency for average price of fuel to each level of all zones will be changed from US dollar to Japanese yen for sales in Japan, and there is no adjustment to the benchmark list in FY2015 for sales outside Japan from FY2014.

JAL sets fuel surcharge levels bimonthly based on the 2-month average price of Singapore kerosene-type jet fuel. The price of Singapore kerosene-type jet fuel during the two month period of April and May 2015 averaged US$74.76 per barrel, which accounted for 8,979 yen in the average exchange rate of 120.10 JPY/USD during the same period.
As a result, with reference to the fuel surcharge benchmark list for FY2015 in Japanese yen, this corresponds to Zone C of fuel surcharges. From August to September 2015, it will range from 500 yen on a Japan – Korea ticket to 10,500 yen on a Japan – USA ticket per person per sector flown, on tickets purchased in Japan.

JAL announces international fare fuel surcharge

Japan Airlines (JAL) has requested for approval from the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) to apply the level of fuel surcharges on all international passenger tickets issued between April 1, 2012 and May 31, 2012 as detailed below.

The fuel surcharge benchmark list for the fiscal year of 2012 (see below) has been adjusted from fiscal year 2011 to reflect the effects of the higher exchange rate of the Japanese yen last year. Fuel surcharge levels per sector in Japanese yen for Zones G, H and I have been changed while levels within Zones A to F remain the same.

JAL sets fuel surcharge levels bimonthly based on the 2-month average price of Singapore kerosene-type jet fuel. The price of Singapore kerosene-type jet fuel during the two month period of December 2011 and January 2012 averaged US$124.92 per barrel. With reference to the benchmark list for fiscal year 2012, this corresponds to Zone G of fuel surcharges which from April 2012, will range from 2,200 yen on a Japan – Korea ticket to 23,500 yen on a Japan – USA ticket per person per sector flown, on tickets purchased in Japan.

This level of surcharge will be applied to all international passenger tickets issued between April 1 and May 31, 2012.
