Put Foot Rally ready to take off in South Africa

(eTN) – “The greatest social rally on the face of the Earth” kicks off from the shadow of the great mountain in Cape Town!

The Put Foot Rally is becoming increasingly popular. Founded by three aspiring young South Africans – Daryn Hillhouse, Mike Sharman, and Dan Nash – the Put Foot Foundation is Southern Africa’s newest “adventure charity.” Their goal is to raise funds for a minimum of 600 pairs of shoes and to provide donors and Put Foot Rally participants with the opportunity to see and feel first-hand the life-changing experience that gifting a brand new pair of school shoes to a young underprivileged child can deliver!

Crews sign up to travel 8,000 kms in 18 days in any type of vehicle over any route. This year there will be 60 crews competing. The rally starts in Cape Town and travels through Namibia to Zambia and then on to Malawi and Mozambique. All along the way, people donate shoes to deserving children. In Livingstone, they will be giving shoes to children from Zambezi Sawmills Primary School.

From June 18-19 the rally will start in Cape Town, followed by Namibia from June 21-24, then Zambia from June 26-28, ending up with Malawi from June 30-July 4, and the finish line crossing on July 5.

Zambezi Sawmills has over 500 children all of whom will be given new shoes. Participants in the rally will descend on Livingstone and hold up all the traffic with their antics. It is expected that there will be over 250 participants. Members of the Put Foot Rally will all be staying at the Waterfront.
