HAIKOU, Hainan, China – During the 2016 National Tourism Conference in Haikou on January 29, CNTA Chairman Li Jinzao delivered a presentation titled “From Spot-based Tourism to Region-based Tourism: Strive to Open up New Horizon for Tourism Development in the 13th Five-year Plan Period.”

2015 marked the final year of the 12th Five-Year Plan Period, and all indicators – from inbound and outbound visitation to revenue to employment – exceeded the plan’s targets.

Looking to the 13th Five-Year Plan Period, Chairman Li Jinzao proposed a new region-based tourism promotion strategy.

The strategy will be to promote entire regions, integrating scenic spot attractions with their surrounding areas, letting every resident represent the tourism brand, and including all places as part of the tourism environment.

This panoramic system of tourism will lead toward a modern tourism industry, and will require a new positioning for tourism development in China.
