A380 begins regular services to Mexico – 50th route served

TOULOUSE, France – On January 12, 2016 the A380 commenced the regular operations to Central & South America with the first commercial services operated by Air France from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport to Mexico’s Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX) in Mexico City.

This also marks the 50th airport and 102nd A380 route to be served by 13 airlines – with more announced to follow in 2016 such as: Birmingham UK, Prague in Czech Republic and Taipei in Taiwan (by Emirates); and Vancouver, Canada (British Airways).

Including ‘alternate’ airports, the number of destinations now qualified to accommodate the A380 already exceeds 200, and by 2018 this will increase to over 400. Seating up to 600 passengers, the A380 significantly boosts airport slot efficiency serving networks not just hubs, and to date around 180 A380s have been delivered to 13 operators.
