Caribbean Tourism Organization to reveal region’s 2015 performance tomorrow

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), the region’s tourism development agency, will announce tomorrow how the Caribbean’s tourism sector performed in 2015.

CTO’s secretary general Hugh Riley will reveal the numbers at a news conference at the organization’s headquarters in Barbados. An analysis of the numbers will also be done by the acting director of research, Ryan Skeete.

Caribbean tourism registered a record performance in 2014, welcoming 26.3 million visitors – a 5.3 percent rise over the previous year – who spent an estimated US$29.2 billion, itself a record.

In making the announcement at a similar news conference, the CTO had predicted a four to five percent rise in 2015.

The CTO press briefing begins at 11:00 AM Eastern Caribbean Time (10:00 AM in New York and Jamaica, 3:00 PM in the UK).
